Doors can be ordered in two basic forms:
Slab Only - The door in its nominal size (e.g.- 3'0" x 6'8" x 1 3/4"). This form will have to be sized, mortised for hinges, and bored for hardware by you or your contractor to fit your existing jamb. We will need to know the dimensions of your current door. If it is a double door, measure them as a pair from hinge to hinge.
Prehung - We will build a new jamb for the door. The door will be sized, beveled, and bored for you. Arched top doors will always be prehung to insure a match between the jamb and door. We will need to know:
The height and width of your current or planned door unit.
The thickness of the wall that it is to be installed in.
The exterior trim required (Brickmould or 1x4 casing)
The way the door swings. [Looking from outside, which side are the hinges on, and does it swing in (away from you) or out (toward you)].
The wood species of the jamb. It can be the same as the door but not necessarily. For example, we typically use a pine jamb if it is to be painted. Pine jambs will also stain very similarly to Alder doors. We will often use African Mahogany jambs with Mesquite doors because of the close color match.
The specifications for the lock bore and the finish of the lockset and hinges.
Sidelites and Transoms - Are available for any door unit. Transoms can be arched or rectangular. Sidelites can be arched with the door as a unit.
